Dr. Craig A. Ford, Jr.
Theologian, ethicist, writer, speaker, and activist. Dr. Craig A. Ford, Jr. is a trained moral theologian who thinks at the intersection of gender, race, and sexuality within the Christian and Catholic moral tradition.
My hope is to show how truly wide the Catholic imagination can be when we think about some of today's most controversial issues.

Current Position
Where He Is Now
Dr. Craig A. Ford, Jr. joined the Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Fall 2025 as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Ethics. He also holds the prestigious 2024–2025 Lund-Gill Chair at Dominican University in Chicago, where he taught the honors theology course "The Catholic Imagination: Sex, Gender, and Race."
He previously served as Assistant Professor of Theology and Religious Studies at St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin, where he co-directed the Peace and Justice interdisciplinary minor and received three distinguished college awards.
Scholarship
Research & Writing
Dr. Craig A. Ford, Jr. explores topics at the intersection of moral theology, queer theology/queer theory, and Black studies. His work is committed to imagining more just futures by pushing the boundaries of the Catholic moral imagination.
His forthcoming book, Works of Art: Gender and Sexuality in Liberative Natural Law Perspective, is being published by Fortress Press. It reimagines natural law frameworks through an intersectional lens to construct a liberative theology of gender and sexuality.
In addition to academic publications, Dr. Craig A. Ford, Jr. is a "publicly engaged scholar" who bridges the gap between theology and urgent societal issues, publishing regularly in Commonweal, the National Catholic Reporter, Outreach, and Conscience—Catholics for Choice.

An engaged activist and public theologian, Dr. Craig A. Ford, Jr. works not only with universities and academic societies, but also with Catholic parishes, LGBTQ organizations, and professional bodies across the country, leading workshops on racial justice, gender and sexuality, and Catholic social teaching.
He has spoken at NYC WorldPride, Yale Divinity School, Villanova University, Creighton University, and many more institutions and communities dedicated to widening the Catholic imagination.
